On June 30, 2023, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) announced its intention to review cases where individuals had submitted fees and consent for linking their PAN with Aadhaar, but the actual linking process was not completed by the specified date.
According to the CBDT’s update, some individuals faced difficulties while attempting to download the challan (receipt) after making a payment for Aadhaar-PAN linking. However, the CBDT clarified that the challan receipt is not mandatory for linking PAN with Aadhaar. After completing the payment, individuals will automatically receive an email containing a copy of the challan.
The CBDT emphasized that it will carefully consider cases where individuals had already made the required fee payment and provided consent for linking but encountered delays in the actual linking process by June 30, 2023.
